The Fairgrounds Complex is located on 165 acres with 15 permanent buildings in Augusta, NJ. Conveniently located just 50 miles from New York City and the Poconos, The Fairgrounds Complex can bring a country setting close to the city. Fifteen permanent buildings include six livestock barns, a 5,000 square foot mahogany and glass Conservatory, Greenhouse, and 10,000 square foot Walter Richards building. Our indoor and outdoor space is available for rent and for low-cost usage by non-profit organizations. The Fairgrounds has significant field parking and is accessible for people with disabilities.

The Conservatory is a premiere wedding and event destination located in the heart of Sussex County.  Just one hour outside of New York City, the Conservatory is a perfect location for a unique indoor/outdoor event year-round! It combines access to over 165 acres of beautiful landscape with an upscale indoor venue to create the perfect setting for your event.  In addition, we have our seven stunning outdoor garden displays in the Courtyard, which is where you could have a ceremony, cocktail hour and/or reception.  The venue can accommodate up to 250 guests, with room enough for a dance floor!

Year Round Events

Everyone knows that The Fairgrounds is the proud home of the New Jersey State Fair, our biggest summer event! But what happens during the rest of the year?  The Fairgrounds Complex doesn’t just sit empty. The venue is host to a variety of annual and recurring events and is available to rent for parties, wedding, or other social occasions. Our facilities are maintained year-round, and provide indoor and outdoor spaces to accommodate even the cold of winter or heat of summer. Spring

With winter snow melting and gardens in bloom, The Fairgrounds Complex and its gardens come alive just in time for a variety of events.  The Garden State Horse Show monopolizes the horse show area for over a week in the spring.  Rabbit and poultry shows are scheduled in the AG Area and weddings and social events are keeping the Conservatory busy.  In addition, our Farmers' market opens in Spring, bringing the best locally-sourced foods to the area!

Summer

The Fair may be the star of Summer, but horse shows, 4-H events, and outdoor music and food events such as the Crawfish Festival and Rocks, Ribs, and Ridges event keep the complex lively throughout the season. Enjoy on-site camping for some events, or book an indoor event in our fully air-conditioned Conservatory.

Fall

Enjoy the last few warm days and prepare for the holidays. Fall is a busy season at The Fairground Complex, as we host craft fairs, horse shows dog shows and more! Our Fall Festival, Peters Valley Craft Fair, and Champion of the Grill events are time-honored traditions that are fun for the whole community.

Winter

Looking for a place to get out of the snow? Our indoor facilities provide a perfect way to enjoy the comforts of a city venue with the beautiful view of the fairgrounds! In addition, The Fairgrounds hosts outdoor events, such as the Big Brew Sussex Winter Beer Fest.

All-Season Events

5K and 10K charity races, horse shows, dog shows, and event hosting occur year-round. We have many loyal patrons who return again and again to take advantage of our indoor and outdoor spaces, and many one-time visitors who choose to make our Fairgrounds the home of their cherished memories. Weddings, parties, and corporate events are perfectly suited for our Conservatory, and the Complex is available for rental year-round. In addition, we partner with many non-profit organizations and charitable organizations to provide accommodations.
